Merge

Enables data stewards to identify and consolidate duplicate or similar records into a unified, accurate master record. This capability ensures data consistency and integrity, reducing redundancy and enhancing the quality of the master data across the organization.

Data Enrichment

During merging, data fields from multiple records can be combined to enrich the information, filling gaps to ensure completeness.

Conflict Resolution

Automated rules resolve conflicts in data values from different sources, deciding which value to retain based on trustworthiness, recency, or other criteria.

Unmerge

Allows data stewards to separate previously merged records back into distinct entities when discrepancies or errors are identified. This capability ensures the accuracy and integrity of master data by correcting inappropriate merges, thereby maintaining the trustworthiness of the data.

Reversibility

Allows the separation of previously merged records if the merge was incorrect or if the original records are needed separately for analysis or other purposes.

Selective Unmerging

Provides the option to selectively unmerge specific attributes or entire records, depending on the requirements.

Data Integrity Maintenance

Ensures that the original data can be restored, maintaining historical accuracy and traceability.

Maker - Checker

Critical control mechanism that enhances data accuracy and governance by involving multiple roles in the data entry and modification process. This approach divides responsibilities between the “maker” who creates or modifies data, and the “checker” who reviews and approves these changes before they are committed to the master database.

Data Creation/Modification

The maker, often a data steward or an operational employee, inputs or updates data in the MDM system.

Appproval Process

Only after the checker approves the modifications do they get committed to the master database. If the data is rejected, it goes back to the maker for correction.

Review & Approval

The checker, who could be a senior data steward, manager, or a designated reviewer, examines the changes for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with data standards and policies.

Golden Record, Survivor Record, and Subgroup 

Allows data stewards to create a Golden Record, Survivor Record, or a Subgroup by intelligently consolidating and reconciling multiple data records

Golden Record

Create an authoritative version of a data record that consolidates the best information from multiple sources into a single, reliable source of truth.

Subgroup

Create a collection of related records that are grouped together based on specific criteria for targeted analysis or management, while maintaining each record’s individuality.

Survivor Record

Create the best representative record chosen from a set of duplicates, retaining the most accurate and relevant attributes.
